Chester County Sunflower Photos
I am a sucker for sunflowers. Every single year I find myself scouring Chester County looking for the perfect field. Tall stalks, good light, and enough room to move around in. It never gets old.
This particular field was off Route 896 heading toward Lancaster, on the property of an Amish family. I do what I always do: walk up to the door and ask permission. In all my years of doing this, the owners have been gracious every single time. But this family was something else entirely.
A Sunflower Field Unlike Any Other
They did not just grow sunflowers. They had fields of flowers in every direction, colors and varieties I was not expecting. And when we were done shooting, the mom went out and hand picked a bouquet for us to take home. It was one of those moments that reminds you why this job is so good.
When to Book Chester County Sunflower Photos
Sunflowers in Chester County are typically at peak bloom from late July through September, though it shifts a bit year to year depending on the weather. I scout fields every season and notify clients when the timing is right.
Sunflower field sessions are one of my most requested portrait styles, and for good reason. The light filters through the stalks in a way that is just magical, and the color makes every image pop. Whether you are booking a senior session, a family portrait, or just something a little different, a Chester County sunflower field is a backdrop you will never get tired of looking at.
If you want to be on the list for sunflower field portraits this summer, reach out and I will add you. Spots fill up fast once the fields are ready.
