Sunflower Field

Some locations just feel made for portraits. Sunflower field sessions have a warmth and texture that’s hard to replicate anywhere else, with golden petals, soft late-day light, and a backdrop that does half the work. I photograph sunflower field portraits for families and seniors across Chester County, PA and into Delaware and Maryland, usually during the brief late-summer window when the blooms are at their peak. These sessions fill quickly, so if a sunflower field is on your list, it’s worth reaching out early. Every gallery includes guidance on printing your favorites, because images this beautiful deserve to live somewhere beyond your phone.

I’ve been photographing families and seniors throughout Chester County and the surrounding area since 2006, and sunflower sessions are some of my favorites every year, in part because as a mom of three, I know how special it is to have one gorgeous, no-fuss location that works for the whole family at once. My studio is based in Avondale, PA, and I scout sunflower fields each summer throughout southern Chester County and northern Delaware so I can point you toward the best bloom at the right time.

Because sunflowers only bloom for a few weeks each summer, I keep a close eye on local fields throughout the region and open up sunflower sessions as soon as the blooms are ready, usually with fairly short notice. I recommend light, coordinating outfits rather than matching everyone exactly, and I’ll share tips on timing and what to wear once your session is booked. Sessions work well for families, seniors, couples, and even solo portraits, and the late-day golden light in a sunflower field creates some of the warmest, most vibrant images I photograph all year.

If a sunflower field session is on your list, reach out early in the summer so I can let you know as soon as a field opens up near Avondale, Chester County, or the Delaware and Maryland border area.
